Description

Frank Frazetta - Dejah Thoris Drawing Original Art (1991). Dejah Thoris, the buxom princess of Helium and eventual wife of John Carter in Edgar Rice Burroughs' beloved Barsoom stories, is presented here in a stunning and effortless drawing by the hand of the master fantasy illustrator Frank Frazetta (1928 - 2010). Needing very little introduction, Frank Frazetta is often referred to as the Godfather of fantasy art and one of the most renowned illustrators of the 20th Century. He is frequently cited as an influence on countless modern fantasy illustrators and filmmakers such as George Lucas and Guillermo del Toro. The artwork of Frank Frazetta is especially sought after by collectors, considered transcendent from the medium of illustration into the world of Fine Art. His original works are frequently valued in the hundreds of thousands, and one original even went for over five million dollars in 2019 at Heritage Auctions. A perfect showcase of the artist's soft shading and broad range of values, this drawing could practically jump right out of the paper (also note the clever use of disconnected linework on Dejah's right arm!) Rendered beautifully in graphite as only Frank Frazetta can, this piece is signed by the artist and dated 1991. Dejah Thoris measures a substantial 8" tall on the 9" x 12" 100 lb Bristol board, and the piece shows minor handling and edge wear with some toning near the edges and a tiny wrinkle in the lower right corner. A highly coveted original Frank Frazetta drawing, this piece by the prestigious artist is in Very Good condition.
