Ferdinand the Bull Ferdinand Animation Drawings Sequence of 3 (Walt Disney, 1938).
"But Ferdinand just sat...and smelled." Ferdinand, who may well be the gentlest bull in all of history, has been mistaken for a ferocious, bloodthirsty animal - and is recruited for the big bullfight in Madrid. When his true pacifist nature is revealed, he is sent back home to his pasture, to sit in the grass and smell the flowers - his favorite pastime. This short was an adaptation of the wildly popular children's book, The Story of Ferdinand, by Munro Leaf. Directed by Dick Richard, and released on 11/25/38, the film won the Oscar for best animated short for that year. One of Disney's famous "Nine Old Men", Milt Kahl provided the voice of the titular bull. From Ferdinand the Bull we have a wonderful sequence of drawings showing the frustrated matador and Ferdinand who has no interest in bullfighting. The illustrations of Ferdinand measure 8" x 7.5" an absolutely perfect pose, which captures the essence of the cartoon in this sequence. The matador measures 5" tall. You will find this sequence around the 6:14 mark in the film. The artwork is rendered in graphite and colored pencil on 12 field 5-peghole paper. Mild handling and age-related toning of paper. In Very Good condition.
