    Description

    Farm Stories Signed Limited First Edition Book #10/650 with Original Illustration by Gustaf Tenggren (Simon and Schuster, 1946). After a career with the Walt Disney studios, Gustaf Tenggren moved to Dogfish Head, in Southport Maine, and worked for Little Golden Books from 1942 - 1962. This is a rare First Edition copy with dust jacket of the Giant Golden Book Farm Stories. This book has a special bookplate that reads, "This first, specially printed edition of Farm Stories is limited to 650 copies of which this is number 10." The bookplate is signed by authors K. and B. Jackson, as well as Gustaf Tenggren, who provided the book's illustrations. He has inscribed the top of the book plate page, "To My friends Ethel and Herman S. Dogfish Head 48" in graphite. The lot comes with original Tenggren pen and ink artwork of the lady milking the cow with a pail of spilled milk, as seen on page 67, for the story titled "No Use Crying." The artwork is pen and ink on board measuring 12" x 8". Pinholes in borders. Tape on borders from previous framing. In pencil on top is written "Farm Book." Overall detailed image is 8" x 7". Very Good condition.
