Description

Fantasia "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" Mickey Mouse Study Drawing (Walt Disney, 1940). From what is largely considered to be one of Mickey Mouse's greatest roles ever, here is a wonderful original pair of study/model drawings from "The Sorcerer's Apprentice." This segment of Fantasia was the only part of the film to feature the iconic Mickey Mouse, and it has been a classic ever since. Mickey's costume in the short, with a bright red robe and the deep blue sorcerer's hat, had become one of the mouse's most recognizable looks, and the hat was the thematic icon of Disney's Hollywood Studios for one and a half decades. These two drawings of Mickey depict him from two different angles, holding a bucket with a look of surprise on his face. They are created with graphite and red pencil on animation paper, and they are both trimmed. The drawings are affixed to a 16 field, 5-peghole sheet of paper for display. The two trimmed drawings measure about 4.25" x 5" and 4.5" x 5". The piece is in Good to Very Good condition, with some handling and edge wear, including age-related toning, some minor staining, and a few small edge tears on the 16 field paper. There are staple holes on the 16 field paper as well.
