Fantasia "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" Mickey Mouse Rough Drawing by Grim Natwick (Walt Disney, 1940). This early development/layout sketch of Mickey Mouse in his "Sorcerer's Apprentice" robe is extremely interesting. For one thing, it was drawn by Myron "Grim" Natwick, shortly before he left Disney. But what makes it really spectacular is that Grim has noted the names of his fellow artists working on the roughs with him, including Norm "Fergy" Ferguson, Art Babbitt, Frank Thomas, Wollie Reitherman, Les Clark, Bill Tytla, Bob Wickersham, Ed Love, Shamus Culhane, Izzy Klein, Ward Kimball, Jack Larson, Milt Kahl, Ham Luske, Fred Moore, Wilfred Jackson, Bill Roberts, Dick Lundy, Clyde Geramoni, and more. This animation rough, drawn in graphite and red pencil, is on 12-field 5-peghole paper marked 27; Mickey stands 4" tall. This piece was originally folded, as saved by Grim; there is some minor discoloration along the right side that does not affect the image of names. It's in Very Good condition, framed with glass to an overall size of 15" x 12.75". What an incredible and fascinating piece of animation history!
