Description

Fantasia "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" Mickey Mouse Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1940). Mickey is back in his biggest role as the sorcerer's apprentice in this outstanding 16 field 5-peghole animation drawing from Disney's musical masterpiece Fantasia! "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" segment was based on Der Zauberlehrling by Goethe and was directed by Disney Legend James Algar (1912 - 1998) with animation supervised by Disney Legends Fred Moore and Vladimir "Bill" Tytla. His role was originally going to be filled by Dopey, but it's hard to imagine this segment without him. This incredible drawing features Mickey in Yen Sid's iconic sorcerers hat with a rare, intense look of concentration on his face as he begins to conduct the crashing waves in his dream at about the 34:28 mark. This beautiful and magical drawing is rendered in graphite with color pencil highlights and is centered on the page. Mickey's nearly full figure form measures about 5.5'' x 5.75''. The drawing is marked 62B in the lower right corner. If you haven't added this apprentice to your collection yet, this is a great place to start. Very Good condition with minor edge and handling wear and light age-related toning.
