Description
Fantasia "The Nutcracker Suite" Blossom Ballet Concept/Story Art Signed by Jules Engel (Walt Disney, 1940). A group of flowers dance gracefully in this magnificent concept/story art drawing created for the Fantasia segment "The Nutcracker Suite," by the renowned artist Jules Engel (1909 - 2003). Well-known for his extensive work as a painter, sculptor, and graphic artist, Engel was assigned to work on the memorable choreography of "The Nutcracker Suite," later also participating in Bambi. Engel is also known for his involvement in the UPA cartoon Gerald McBoing Boing, where he created incredible backgrounds. This magnificent drawing, done in graphite, shows a stupendous image of the flowers dancing on water, measuring an image size of 7" x 5.25", greatly informing the creation of the scene at about the 18:52 mark of the movie, signed by Engel in the bottom right area. This lot is offered on a 16.25" x 18.25" glass-fronted frame. All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition. The drawing shows normal age-related toning. With minor handling wear from production, the lot is in Very Good condition.Auction Info
