Fantasia "Pastoral Symphony" Nubian Centaurette Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1940). Fantasia was the third animated feature film from the Walt Disney Studios. The film consisted of eight segments set to classical music conducted by Leopold Stokowski. In this lot we have a piece from the "Pastoral Symphony" segment. According to Ward Kimball, the animators were "extremely specific on touchy issues". In the making of the "Pastoral Symphony" Greek mythological segment, the female centaurs were originally drawn bare-breasted, but the Hays office enforcing the Motion Picture Production Code insisted that they discreetly hang garlands around their necks. Here is an original 16 field, 5-peghole animation drawing of the Nubian Centaurette. This lovely image of 7.25", rendered in graphite with green highlights and noted as A13 in the bottom right corner and a stamp of Prod. 2004 Seq. 4.3 Scene 25 is in the bottom left corner. A beautiful drawing, in Fine condition.
