Fantasia "Pastoral Symphony" Bacchus and Jacchus Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1940). Here is an enormous animation rough of Bacchus the God of Wine and Intoxication, from the third movement Fantasia's "Pastoral Symphony" segment. It's a massive image of him riding his little donkey Jacchus as he is led to Centaurs and Centaurettes. Some of this animation was done by the legendary Ward Kimball (1914 - 2002). Character designer Joe Grant (1905 - 2005) stated, "Bacchus should look like a balloon in the Macy's Day Parade!" Rendered in graphite with blue and green pencil; he measures approximately 6" x 7" on 12 field paper and is numbered 56 in the lower right. There are animator's timing notes written along the right border. The piece is matted and framed under Plexiglas with a mat opening of 9" x 12" in a 16" x 19" frame. Frame is sold as-is. Art condition is Very Good.
