Fantasia "Nutcracker Suite" Original Story/Beat Board Art (Walt Disney, 1940). Here's an extraordinarily rare piece of story/beat board art featuring the goldfish from the "Nutcracker Suite" segment of Fantasia. Beat boards and story art are similar to storyboards. They are part of the pre-production writing and visual development stage of the process. They are a good way to visualize project ideas and to present as proposals. The boards begin to form story, characters, and art direction. Beat boards and storyboards, especially early roughs, concept art, and thumbnail versions, are what the filmmaker will use to create ideas for narratives and sequences. Even though they are referred to as "boards," the art is rendered in graphite over red pencil on trimmed animation paper. The artwork is framed to 8.25" x 10" with an aperture of 5.5" x 7.5". The goldfish image measures 5" x 4.5". Frame is sold as-is. The drawing exhibits age-related toning. The piece appears to be in Very Good condition.Auction Info
