Description
Fantasia "Night on Bald Mountain" Chernabog Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1940). The towering Chernabog rises with majestic wickedness in this astounding animation drawing from Fantasia's unforgettable segment "Night on Bald Mountain." Outstandingly somber, this character from Disney's anthology film was brought to life by the distinguished animator Bill Tytla. Although the famous actor Bela Lugosi was initially used to model for this somber character, Tytla was dissatisfied with his performance and then resorted to having the sequence director for this part of the movie, Wilfred Jackson, serve as the model for Chernabog. This stunning 16-field animation drawing is numbered 375A in the bottom right corner and features the formidable character rendered in graphite and colored pencils with a monumental image size of 7" x 10", an image done to create what appears on screen at approximately the 1:50:57 mark. Some wrinkling is present on the left side of the drawing, and the animation sheet presents normal age-related toning. With mild handling and edge wear from production, the lot is in Very Good condition.Auction Info
