Fantasia "Night On Bald Mountain" Chernabog Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1940). On Walpurgis Night (the Witches' Sabbath), Chernabog... the demon who lives in Bald Mountain, rises as the music hits it crescendo! This dramatic image of the god of evil is produced in graphite and red and blue pencil on 16 field 5-peghole animation paper. He measures an imposing 15" x 11.5"! This scene from the "Night on Bald Mountain" segment was animated by Vladimir "Bill" Tytla and is considered by many to be his crowning achievement. The drawing is stamped "2004, Seq.11, Scene 69" in the lower left and hand-numbered "395A" in the lower right. It is one of the single best Chernabog drawings we have ever seen at auction. It is very similar to the Sequence shown on page 184 in John Culhane's 1983 book Fantasia. Plexiglas front framed to 22" x 19.5", the drawing has a slight wrinkle in the top right and slight tanning overall. Otherwise in Fine condition.
