    Description

Fantasia Mickey Mouse as the Sorcerer's Apprentice Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1940). After the Sorcerer Yen Sid ("Dis Ney" spelled backwards) returns to find Mickey's created chaos, and waves his hands to restore order, Mickey sheepishly walks up to him. Mickey first hands him back his hat, and then the broom. He picks up two buckets and proceeds to walk away and get back to work. The broom in his hand in this drawing will soon be used by Yen Sid to spank his bottom with! This is an outstanding heartfelt drawing of Mickey giving the broom back to Yen Sid. Wonderful facial expression, with a great image size of 5". Drawing is in graphite with green pencil highlights on 12 field 5-peghole animation paper. The notation C44 is in the bottom right corner. Matted with an opening of 11" x 10", and framed using Plexiglas for an overall size of 18" x 16". A screen-grab print of this scene is included on the back of the frame. Frame is sold as-is. Artwork condition is Very Good.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
