    Description

Fantasia Mickey Mouse as the Sorcerer's Apprentice Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1940). Mickey Mouse's greatest role is considered by most fans and animation scholars to be the "Sorcerer's Apprentice" in Fantasia. This is an outstanding 16 field 5-peghole animation drawing that showcases the magic of Disney feature animation. Mickey is half-submerged in water in this great drawing, created in graphite with red and green pencil highlights. Mickey finds an army of brooms walking with two buckets of water each and emptying them out. He runs to the bottom of the stairs and starts to panic, bailing water out the window. This can be seen about the 7:07 mark into the sequence. Mickey has his hat on and is holding a bucket in this superb drawing, with a nice image size of 5". The drawing is stamped Seq. 7 Scene 64. 35 in the bottom right corner. Minor handling and edge wear. Very Good condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
