    Description

    Fantasia Chernabog Animation Drawing with Effects Drawing (Walt Disney, 1940). It has been said that Bill Tytla's knowledge of anatomy and sculpture, as well as his ability to instill power and dramatic intensity into his drawings, were never better illustrated than on the Chernabog, in the "Night on Bald Mountain" section of Fantasia. This is an amazing 16 field 5-peghole animation drawing of the Chernabog. It can be seen around 1:03 into the musical sequence when he is throwing the shadows below him to unleash the demons and spirits. Art is in graphite with blue and red pencil highlights. Notes on this drawing read "No high-lites on inside ribs now/They are in shadows." Bottom of the drawing has 2004/11/22 for prod/seq/scene notes. The enormous image takes up the entire page. As a bonus, the matching effects smoke drawing is included. Both are numbered 117, with the effects marked C-117. Dramatic, important, beautiful piece of artwork. Minor handling and edge wear. Fine condition.
