    Description

Fantasia Animation Drawings Group of 2 (Walt Disney, 1940). Fantasia was first released as a theatrical roadshow held in thirteen U.S. cities beginning on 11/13/40. Even though the film was a hit with critics it was unable to make a profit due to World War II cutting off distribution to the European market. To date, Fantasia is the 23rd highest-grossing film of all time in the U.S. when adjusted for inflation. The Pastoral Symphony sequence features a composition by Ludwig van Beethoven also known as Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 in F Major with animation depicting a mythical Greco-Roman world of colorful centaurs, centaurettes, cupids, fauns and other figures from classical mythology. In this lot we have two drawings; one of Melinda, a centaurette and one of Brutus, a centaur, at a gathering for a festival to honor Bacchus, the god of wine. The drawings were rendered in graphite with colored pencil highlights on 16 field 5-peghole animation paper. These drawings are nearly 80 years old and in Very Good condition with slight paper toning due to the age of the pieces. This is a "must have" for any astute animation collector!
