Family Dog Sketch by Brad Bird (Amblin, c. 1993). Although his live-action films get all the attention these days (we're talking Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol and Tomorrowland), film director Brad Bird got his start in animation. In fact, his animated features for Disney have also been huge hits: The Iron Giant, The Incredibles, Ratatouille. But before all that came Family Dog. This 10-episode series aired in 1993, based on an episode of Steven Spielberg's Amazing Stories from 1987, which was written by Mr. Bird. This is a very rare sketch from the hand of Brad Bird, done as a gift to Spike Decker; it features Billy Binsford and Jonah the Family Dog. Art is in marker on 12.5" x 10.5" paper, with image sizes of 8" and 3.5". Mr Bird has inscribed and hand-signed the piece along the right side of the paper. The marker art has faded a bit, and there is handling wear and a few minor contact marks on the paper; Overall Good condition. From the Spike and Mike Festival of Animation Archives.
