    Description

Dumbo Dumbo and Crows Animation Drawing Group of 2 (Walt Disney, 1941). A wonderfully matted pair of graphite animation drawings, each on 12 field 5-peghole animation paper. The main image features the floppy-eared elephant, Dumbo, tangled up in some telephone lines after his first landing, still clutching his "Magic" feather in his trunk. He measures approximately 5" tall, where as the wires cross the entire page. There are very slight red pencil highlights on his ruffle and ear. The Crows (Dandy, Slim, Glasses, Preacher, and Straw Hat) are on a separate page that has been folded and matted in a small oval above Dumbo. It's a great image of the murder of Crows who have never "seen an Elephant fly", measuring 2.5" wide. Dumbo's drawing is marked "2001 10.5" and is numbered "14: in the lower right corner. They are matted together to 13.75" x 14.5". The pages are slightly tanned and sun-struck, with minor handling and wrinkles, otherwise in Fine condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
