Description

Dumbo Animation Production Drawing (Walt Disney, 1941).
Dumbo was the fourth animated feature film from the Walt Disney Studios, released on 10/23/41 just weeks before the attack on Pearl Harbor. In Steven Spielberg's movie, 1941, a few clips of Dumbo were seen in a theater where General Stillwell goes. Dumbo had seven directors which included Ben Sharpsteen, Jack Kinney and Hamilton Luske. In this lot we have a rare production drawing of Jim, one of the five crows. Jim is the classy, cigar-smoking leader of the flock. Donning his signature vest, spats, and derby hat, Jim carries himself with a self-assured flair. He has a commanding presence and does most of the talking amongst the group. Disney Legend Inductee and one of "Walt's Nine Old Men", Ward Kimball supervised the animation of the crows. The image of Jim measures 5.5" tall in this drawing, rendered in graphite and red pencil on 12 field, 5-peghole animation paper. Stamped on the lower left corner if, "2006 19.1 8.0". This same information is also hand-written in the lower center of the piece. Normal handling and edge wear. Very Good condition.
