Description

Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas Grinch Production Cel Sequence of 3 Signed by Chuck Jones (MGM, 1966). "...Then he stuck his head out of the fireplace flue, where the little Who stockings hung all in a row. 'These stockings,' he Grinched, 'are the first things to go.'" The Grinch cleverly uses a magnet to remove the stocking nails from the fireplace mantle, his first act as a saboteur Santa Claus. This fantastic sequence of three original animation drawings were created for the moments seen at the 12:55 mark of the beloved Christmas special Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas, directed by Chuck Jones (1912 - 2002). One of the most widely celebrated animators in cartoon history, Chuck Jones directed more than three hundred cartoons over the course of his decades-long career, ten of which featured in Jerry Beck's book The 50 Greatest Cartoons. These expressive drawings of the Grinch are rendered in graphite and color pencil on three sheets of 12 field animation paper. The Grinch ranges in size from 5" to 7.75" tall. Each drawing bears an official Linda Jones seal, and each is signed by Chuck Jones. The drawings are numbered 12, 22, and 38 in the lower right corners, and they show minor handling and edge wear from normal studio use. The condition is Very Good.
