Donald Duck "Nose Art" Original Artwork by Art Scott Group of 2 (Walt Disney, 1941). If you've ever watched a WWII movie, you've probably seen a little-documented art form called "nose art." That's the term for the cartoons, drawings, and other markings that military crews painted on the noses of their aircraft beginning in France in the First World War. In 1939, Walt Disney was asked by the United States Navy to design a crest. Disney went on to form a five-person team that created 1,200 aircraft insignias between 1939 and 1945. Presented is a pair of Donald Duck originals by assistant Disney animator Art Scott. The amateur magician and singer also worked on Fantasia and Bambi before joining up with Bob Clampett and later Hanna-Barbera. Scott went on to produce animation and live-action television and started his own film company. This incredible artwork was rendered in pastel with cel overlays. Both pieces are framed under glass to 11.25" x 15" with a matboard aperture of 3.75" x 5.5". The artist has printed his name on the bottom of the first original. Condition is Very Good.
