    Description

Doctor Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas Cindy Lou Who Animation Drawing and Presentation Cel (MGM, 1966). "Welcome Christmas... and welcome to Whoville!" Here's a lovely original studio drawing of little Cindy Lou Who (who was no more than two), in graphite and blue pencil on a 12 field 3-peghole sheet of animation paper. The drawing is autographed by Phil Roman, who worked on this film well before starting his own animation studio, and by the first lady of animation (not to mention the voice of Cindy Lou), Ms. June Foray. Wow! This original production drawing was used to create a brilliant one-of-one edition cel of Cindy Lou and others in the Welcome Christmas celebration. The 1/1 cel has an estate plate Chuck Jones signature, and a Linda Jones seal and COA. Any Cindy Lou Who production art is considered rare and very hard to find. Fine condition. From the Chuck Jones Archives.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
