Cookie Carnival Good Housekeeping Page Original Art (Walt Disney, 1935). The Silly Symphony short Cookie Carnival made its Good Housekeeping page appearance in February, 1935, three months before the short directed by Ben Sharpsteen made its theatrical appearance on May 25. This was only the fourth Disney Good Housekeeping page. This is the original artwork for that page, in gouache on board, and it's one of the earliest we have seen. The short told a Cinderella-style story of a cookie girl who wishes to be Queen at the Cookie Carnival, and who gets help from a Hobo Cookie. The brilliant backgrounds in this Silly Symphony short mirror the great artwork in done for this page. Artwork for Disney's Good Housekeeping pages were done mostly by Hank Porter and Tom Woods. The artwork was so good for this Good Housekeeping page that it was used again in the British Mickey Mouse Weekly #25, in 1936. The adaptation of the short can also be seen on page 45 of the book Walt Disney's Mickey and the Gang (Gemstone Press, 2005). Plexiglas-front framed with a 17" x 24" mat opening. Brilliant colors! In Fine condition with minor handling wear.
