Description

Clock Cleaners Goofy Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1937). Goofy is looking a little lightheaded in this 12 field animation drawing. Hopefully Mickey and Donald can give him a hand! The graphite with color pencil drawing was created for the Ben Sharpsteen-directed short Clock Cleaners where Mickey, Donald, and Goofy are tasked with the upkeep of a huge clocktower. It remains one of the trio's greatest shorts and was ranked number 27 in The 50 Greatest Cartoons: As Selected by 1,000 Animation Professionals by animation historian Jerry Beck. While Mickey has to deal with a stubborn pelican and Donald has to manage the tower's main spring, Goofy is stuck cleaning the beautiful bells. He doesn't deal with the mechanical bellringers beforehand and gets a few good hits to the head while cleaning, leaving him wobbling around - and off - the clocktower. He's making his way towards the edge in this full figure 5.75'' x 6'' drawing and you can find his pose at about 6:21 as he stumbles away from the gigantic bell, a dazed smile on his face. The drawing is numbered 169 below the 16.5'' x 12.5'' mat and is in Very Good condition overall with light edge and handling wear and faint age-related toning.
