Description
Cinderella "So This is Love" Prince Charming and Cinderella Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1950). "So this is love... So this is what makes life divine." Presented in this lot is a picture-perfect 16 field 3-peghole animation drawing of Cinderella and Prince Charming from Disney's Cinderella as they dance the night away at the royal ball. The popular animated feature adapted the Charles Perrault version of the fairy tale. Famously, it was a big risk for the studio, but that risk paid off and ended up saving Disney from bankruptcy after the company had lost its European markets during World War II. It remains a beloved classic 75 years later thanks to the hard work of everyone involved. The adoring couple were created for the beginning of the dance in the "So This is Love" musical sequence, with composition and lyrics created by Mack David, Jerry Livingston, and Al Hoffman. It is one of the most memorable scenes from the film, appearing at roughly the 52:57 mark of the film. Both characters are as happy as can be, full-figure, detailed, and centered on the page. They are masterfully rendered in graphite with color pencil and measure approximately 4.75'' x 7'' with the drawing noted 161 in the lower right corner.
