Chinaman's Chance Flip the Frog Animation Drawing (Celebrity Pictures/MGM, 1933). Ub Iwerks left the Disney Studios to start his own series with a character called Flip the Frog. These cartoons were produced from 1930 until 1933, distributed by MGM. The title card on these cartoons read "Flip - Produced and Drawn by Ub Iwerks." This is a rare 12 field 2-peghole animation drawing of Flip the Frog from one of his final shorts, released on 6/12/33. It is the only one of his cartoons where he wears the Keystone Cop-type hat. In this cartoon, he and his dog are trying to track down the villain "Chow Mein." In an unusual plot twist, Flip ends up in an opium den and actually takes a few puffs on the pipe he finds! This drawing is from the scene where he is sneaking up to the door of the den; see it at the 5:07 mark. Great full-figure image, with a size of 4.5". The number 13 is written in the center border. Any Flip art is considered to be an extremely rare piece of early animation history. Minor handling and edge wear. Good condition.
