Building a Building Mickey Mouse Animation Drawings Sequence of 3 (Walt Disney, 1933). Steam shovel operator Mickey settles down to eat his fish hoagy lunch, but takes time to debone the fish with one swift move. Clever lad! Mickey will soon lose his sandwich to Foreman Pete, but Minnie Mouse (with a pushcart that amounts to an early version of a food truck) gifts Mickey with one of her 15-cent box lunches! Here's a great sequence of three original 12 field 2-peghole animation drawings of Mickey with his sandwich from Building a Building, which was first released to theaters on 1/17/33. This David Hand-directed cartoon received an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Short, only to lose out to Disney's Three Little Pigs. You can see the beginning of the sequence online, at the 3:53 mark. The art is in graphite with red and yellow pencil highlights on the sandwich, with pages numbered 6, 18, and 33 in the lower right corner. Mickey's figure size is 3.5", 3.25", and 3.25"; total image areas are 4" x 3.5" (#6), 3.25" x 3.25" (#18, which has some added inker notes), and 3.75" x 5". The last page has reinforced pegholes, and there is light paper toning but very little handling wear. Overall condition is Very Good to Fine.
