Brave Little Tailor Concept and Production Art Group of 2 (Walt Disney, 1938).
In Brave Little Tailor, Mickey Mouse is the tailor who kills "seven (flies) with one blow." The townspeople, think that Mickey is talking about giants, not flies. Rumors spread and the King sends him out to kill one, and offers him the hand of the Princess Minnie in return. Brave Little Tailor was released on 9/23/38. In this lot we have a really cool piece of concept art from the hand of Ferdinand Horvath (1891 - 1973), the famed and often troubled Disney character and conceptual design artist. The illustrations show character concepts for the giant rendered in colored pencil on 12 field 2-peghole animation paper. The characters measure 5.5" tall. The second piece is the final version of the giant. This piece is not by Horvath but rather a production drawing crafted in graphite and red pencil on 12 field 5-peghole animation paper. Both images have slight age-related toning. The artwork is in Very Good condition.
