Description
Bill Plympton The Simpsons Season 19 DVD Box Set Animation Drawing Group of 14 with Rough Layout Drawing (Fox, 2019). Offered in this lot is an extensive selection of 14 original animation drawings with a coordinating rough layout drawing by Bill Plympton created for The Simpsons season 19 DVD box set menu sequence. Plympton currently holds the record for most Simpsons couch gags by a guest director having produced eight between 2012 and 2022, and was also hired in 2019 to design the packaging and animated menu for season 19's DVD box set. This sequence can be seen completing the loop of Disc #4's progression as the settings transitions from underwater to a row of neatly manicured trees, one of which then outlandishly belches up the family car while returning the location to underwater. The belching tree appears as 11 directly sequential images rendered in colored pencil on 11" x 8.5" 3-peghole paper. Also rendered in colored pencil but on 12 field 3-peghole paper are 2 drawings of the line of trees and a sheet of fish with patterns beginning to resemble the trees. All 14 drawings bear sequence numbers in the lower right with Plympton's signature found drawings T4, T7, T8, and the transitional fish page. No cels were used in the making of this animated sequence, this is the actual artwork hand-drawn by Bill Plympton and filmed. Also included is a coordinating rough layout that has been rendered in graphite on 11" x 8.5" 3-peghole bond paper which is also signed by Plympton. A print of the DVD boxset cover is included for reference. These vibrant works of art showcase Plympton's extraordinary talent and his noteworthy contribution to one of television's most enduring series. Light handling and edge wear including minor corner creasing/curling and small areas of superficial surface wrinkles, overall Very Good condition.More information about 20th Century Fox Artist.
