Description

Big House Blues Background Layout Drawing (Columbia, 1947). The rug that tuxedo cat Flop lies on in the "Flippy and Flop" cartoon Big House Blues is seen in this sharply rendered rare 12 field layout drawing by artist Bill Weaver. The final painted version of this background can be seen in the short at about the 1:17 timestamp. Columbia's short-lived Flippy and Flop cartoon series ran from 1945 until this final entry, first shown on 3/6/1947. Fans of DC's funny animal comic books of the mid-1940s to early-1960s might remember this canary and cat team as Flippity and Flop, which ran much longer in comics than in the animated version. The layout drawing of the rug and fireplace is in graphite with an approximate image size of 11.25" x 8.25". The art is in Good condition with some handling and edge wear, plus some age-related paper toning.
