Description

Beauty and the Beast Beast's Castle Painting and Multi-Character Illustration Original Art (Walt Disney, 1991). This Disney Renaissance classic remains one of the studio's most popular and beloved films. It was, at the time of release, Disney's most successful film, the first animated film to generate $100 million in the US and Canada in its initial run. For fans of this award-winning film (two Oscars, two Golden Globe Awards, even two Grammy Awards and more), here are two pieces of original artwork believed to have been used for children's storybooks. The first is a gorgeous painting of the Beast's castle by Rick Brown, well-known for his Disney paintings, plus art done for Nickelodeon, the NFL, and the Bradford Exchange. The art is in gouache with airbrushed highlights on Bristol board that has been affixed to a heavy pressboard backer measuring approximately 10" x 18.5", with an overall image size of 9" x 17.5". The castle alone measures 5.25" x 7.75". The second item is a hand-drawn line art image of Belle and her imprisoned father Maurice as they encounter an angry Beast. The art is in ink on paper measuring 17" x 10.75"; the image is 17" x 8.25", with the notation 5 written in the lower right corner. Small tear in the ink drawing, along the lower right edge. Very Good to Fine condition.
