Bambi Mother Squirrel and Baby Storyboard Group of 16 (Walt Disney, 1942). "Wake up! Wake up! The new Prince is born!" exclaims Thumper. This exclamation gets all the forest animals running to see him. Certain animals in the forest are introduced through quick vignettes of their daily life. This is a rare set of sixteen storyboards of the mother squirrel and her baby, in a series of graphite drawings on 9" x 8.5" 5-peghole storyboard sheets. The red outline for each drawing is 5.5" x 7". Four feature both mother and baby, while the balance is just the baby squirrel fighting an acorn. We first see these adorable characters in the opening of the film, after Owl flies to their home and promptly falls asleep. Very early Bambi development artwork, a great look into a series of drawings done for a potential gag scene within the movie. Graphite and Conte crayon, with image sizes of 2" - 4". Numbers are in the top right corners. Minor handling and edge wear, pinholes in corners. Good condition. From the Cecil Beard Estate.
