DescriptionBambi Layout/Concept Drawing by Marc Davis (Walt Disney, 1942). In the book, Walt Disney's Bambi - The Story and the Film by Ollie Johnstone and Frank Thomas, they write on pages 124 - 125 "The film's direction changed, however with arrival of Marc Fraser Davis (1913 - 2000). He had maintained a keen interest in drawing animals. In San Francisco he had studied art in the mornings and then taken the trolley out to the Fleischacker Zoo to draw real animals. More hours were spent at the library studying comparative animal anatomy. He looked for ways to make the whole figure show personality, acting, and attitudes that were distinctly human His deer looked like deer, for they had lost none of their essential animal appearance or character, but they could be understood as having human thoughts and feelings." This is a Marc Davis original layout/concept drawing of Bambi in a forest chasing a butterfly and birds with his mother and friends. Graphite with detailed orange and blue highlights to showcase running effect. This concept/study sequence is on a 16 field, 5-peghole animation paper. Amazing insight into the art of Marc Davis. Mr. Davis is a Disney Legend Inductee and one of "Walt's Nine Old Men". Minor handling and edge wear, overall Very Good condition.
