Bambi "Forest Secrets Told by Thumper to Bambi" Painting Original Art (Walt Disney/New York Graphics Society, 1947). The New York Graphic Society opened in 1804 and has the distinction of being the first museum in New York City. They signed a license with the Walt Disney Company in 1946 to produce and sell a series of four lithograph prints for their fundraising efforts. They produced two Snow White pieces and two Bambi pieces. The sold these in portfolio editions of four, and also as individual prints, available in three different sizes. Each litho produced has a bottom border notice that read "Copyright New York Graphic Society. Fine Art Publishers. Published with the Cooperation of Walt Disney Productions, Calif." The artwork was produced and painted by artists at the Walt Disney Studios, possibly by Hank Porter, Samuel Armstrong, or even Colin Campbell -- the actual artist is unknown. This is the original Walt Disney Studio painting for the piece entitled "Forest Secrets, Told by Thumper to Bambi". It features large images of Bambi and Thumper, with Thumper's mother and siblings. This is a gouache original painting, framed with Plexiglas for an overall size of 32" x 28"; the mat opening is 23" x 20". Nice images of 10" for Bambi, with the balance of characters 4" to 6". This is one of the first Fine Art license deals ever done at the Walt Disney Studios, and this is the published original painting for these lithographs, not a later reproduction. A vintage 13.5" x 11.5" New York Graphics Society litho print is included with the painting. Frame is sold as-is; condition of the artwork is Very Good.
