Bambi Concept Art by Retta Scott Group of 8 (Walt Disney, 1942). Retta Scott (1916 - 1990) was the first female animator hired at the Walt Disney Studio. The need for artists who could draw as well as animate real-world animals was needed. She did significant work on the Faline dog fighting scene. Her groundbreaking work on this film and other Disney projects helped earn her a Disney Legend Award in 2000. This is a series of eight studies of animals from her portfolio of work done on Bambi. A wonderful study/drawing of a skunk and a chipmunk and six pages of deer studies are in this lot. All eight pieces are on Disney 12 field 5-peghole animation paper. A keen insight into the making of this film from the hand of Retta Scott. Minor handling and edge wear. Overall Good condition. lot. From the Reta Scott Archives.
