    Description

Babes In the Woods Hansel and Gretel Layout Drawing (Walt Disney, 1932). This rare 12-field 2-peghole layout drawing of Hansel and Gretel lost in the scary woods is from an important early Disney Studio cartoon. The storyline is a forerunner to Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, as the "babes" are saved from the evil witch by an army of little men; the forest artwork looks very similar to what would become Snow White's forest scenes. This early Silly Symphonies short, directed by Bert Gillett, starts light-hearted and has a dark climax. Artwork from this pivotal film in the Studio's history is rarely seen. Drawn in graphite with red highlights; characters are approximately 2.5" tall. A small circled #1 is seen in the lower right corner. In Very Good condition, framed with glass to an overall 17.25" x 15.25".
