Atlantis: The Lost Empire Mrs. Packard Animation Drawings Group of 11 (Walt Disney, 2001). Atlantis: The Lost Empire was the first animated science fiction film and the 41st animated feature film from the Walt Disney Studios. This is a group of drawings featuring Wilhelmina Packard. Mrs. Packard was conceived by producer Don Hahn. Hahn came into an early story meeting one day to pitch the idea of a chain-smoking character, likening her to some of the characters that have been performed by Lily Tomlin. The supervising animator of Packard was David Pruiksma. Much like the character, Vinny Santorini, Packard did not move all that often. Pruiksma felt that the lack of movement needed to be taken a step further. He noted that a lot of the character's acting came not from action, but from finding the right attitude and merely milking it with squints and head tilts, reasoning one could get so much from just one drawing. You can see this in the collection of 11 drawings offered in this lot. The images of the smoking Mrs. Packard measure approximately 9" tall. The work was rendered in graphite with purple pencil on 16 field animation paper. Three of the pieces contain handwritten timing sheet notations on the right side of the pages. Mild handling and edge wear. Very Good condition.
