Alpine Climbers Mickey Mouse Animation Drawings Sequence of 4 (Walt Disney, 1936)."Eagle's eggs..." Mickey holds an egg aloft and chuckles sheepishly as a mother eagle spies him raiding her nest. Alpine Climbers, was released to theaters on 7/25/36. It was directed by Dave Hand with animation by Dick Huemer, Grim Natwick, and Norm Ferguson. The short stars Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, along with Pluto and features the voices of Walt Disney as Mickey, Clarence Nash as Donald Duck, and Pinto Colvig as Goofy. Per Disney's agreement with Good Housekeeping magazine, the short received a full-page illustration in the April issue, though in print, it was titled "Alpine Mickey" and though the setting and characters were the same, the print adaptation did not follow the film's plot. Clad like a Swiss peasant, his traditional red shorts substituted with lederhosen, Mickey sports green knee socks, suspenders, and a feathered cap. From Alpine Climbers we have four pieces rendered in graphite and numbered as 68, 74, 75A, and 148A. Three pieces are on 12 field, 5-peghole animation paper. The piece numbered 148A features the mother eagle on 23" pan animation paper. The piece has two creases in the center, a torn peghole, and significant edge wear along the left side away from the image. The image of the mother eagle is in Fair condition. The three Mickey images measure 4" and 5" high and show mild age-related toning, otherwise are in Very Good condition.
