Alice in Wonderland Storybook Painted Illustrations by Mel Crawford (Walt Disney, 1951). "What's an Alice, looks like a wildflower to me!" says the Mother Daffodil to Alice. Here is a pair of original Mel Crawford paintings of Alice with the Daffodils and Flowers from the "Golden Afternoon" song sequence. They were done for the RCA Victor Records Alice in Wonderland "Little Nipper Giant Storybook Record Album." This book came with two 78 rpm records and featured the voices of the original cast. These are the published originals for pages 10 and 11, which together make one illustration, as a two-page spread featuring Alice, the White Rabbit and the Flowers. Art is in gouache on illustration boards measuring 13.5" x 10.5". Mel Crawford is considered one the greatest children book illustrator of the 1950s and '60s, doing adaptations of virtually every animated feature film and animated television show for comics and storybooks. He won the Franklin Mint Gold Award for watercolor painting, as well as several Grumbacher Gold Medals, and was a longtime artist for Western Publishing. Great colors and images on these two paintings, which are housed in a common Plexiglas-front frame measuring 32" x 24" with a mat opening of 22" x 14". Photocopies of the pages with text are included. Original Mel Crawford published Disney children's book artwork is highly coveted. Frame is sold as-is; paintings have minor handling wear. Very Good condition.
