Description

Alice in Wonderland Rare White Rabbit Animation Drawing Sequence of Three (Walt Disney, 1951). "Her Imperial Highness, Her Grace, Her Excellency, Her Royal Majesty, the Queen of Hearts." Featured in this lot is a rare sequence of three 12 field 3-peghole animation drawings of the White Rabbit, a coveted character and one of the hardest to find from the film. He's a little out of breath, but he made it just in time to introduce the magnificent Queen of Hearts as her Royal Herald at about 1:00:20 in the film. The animation in this scene was supervised by Woolie Reitherman, Disney Legend and one of Disney's "Nine Old Men". Full figure on each page, the rabbit is rendered in graphite with color pencil and ranges from about 4.5'' x 4.25'' to 4.75'' x 5.75'', as expressive and anxious as ever. The drawings are noted 9A, 15A, and 35A in the lower right corners of the pages with additional pegholes attached at the bottom edge of 9A. One drawing's extra pegholes were removed, leaving behind a small scrap of paper with some tape. Good condition with light edge and handling wear, faint age-related toning, and tape with minor tears where the pegholes were attached.
