    Description

Alice in Wonderland Mad Hatter Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1951). "A very merry unbirthday to you - who, me? Let's all congratulate us with another cup of tea. A very merry unbirthday to you!" says the Mad Hatter as seen in this fantastic production drawing from Alice in Wonderland. The Hatter and his best friend, the March Hare, are known for throwing frequent tea parties in celebration of their "unbirthdays". This ingenious unbirthday sequence can be seen beginning around the 42:03-time mark in the film. In the film, Disney suggests the reason for the many cups was that every day was an unbirthday, when in the books, it was because the Mad Hatter had argued with his friend Time, and it was now always six o'clock, time for tea. This outstanding animation drawing was rendered in graphite on 12 field animation paper. The page is noted as number 20 in the bottom right. The piece has one torn peghole, three reinforced pegholes, edge wear from normal production handling, and age-related toning. Condition is Good.
