Description

Aladdin Jafar Pair of Animation Drawings by Disney Legend Andreas Deja (Walt Disney, 1992). "Well..?" The Royal Vizier Jafar has been caught off guard in the pair of 16 field animation drawings created by Disney Legend Andreas Deja for Disney's Aladdin. Deja fell in love with animation from an early age and started at the studio as a character designer and animator on The Black Cauldron. He continued animating there for three decades working on everything from The Great Mouse Detective to the 2011 Winnie the Pooh. Deja was also Jafar's supervising animator and created these graphite with color pencil drawings as part of a pencil test for a cut scene from the film. Aladdin followed Beauty and the Beast as the third film to be created with digital animation, and as such animation drawings are some of the only physical production art that exists. This pair is even more rare having been created for a cut scene, and were specifically for the hand motion in that moment. They are noted "hand key" in the top right with a timing chart on one page and are numbered 15 and 17 in the lower right. With expected edge and handling wear and a minor tear the lot is in Very Good condition.
From the Disney Legend Inductee Andreas Deja Collection.
