Description

Aladdin Jafar Animation Drawing Pair (Walt Disney, 1992). "Genie, my second wish... I wish to be the most powerful sorcerer in the world!" From Disney's Academy Award-winning feature Aladdin, here are two magnificent 16 field animation drawings of Jafar. Agrabah's Royal Vizier is enormous on both pages in graphite with color pencil and has made himself Sultan with his first wish from the genie. He makes his second in these drawings, found at about 1:12:15, to be the most powerful sorcerer and force Jasmine and her father to bow to his whims. Jafar's animation was supervised by Andreas Deja, who also animated villains like Scar and Gaston and heroes like Lilo and Hercules. At about 11.5'' x 11'' and 11'' x 11.25'', the drawings have been numbered 195 and 197 in the lower right and one is circled to indicate it's a key drawing. The key scene is the beginning of the end for our heroes and animation drawings like these are hard to find, not only because the film was animated digitally but also because this is one of the few scenes Jafar appears in his Sultan robes. With light edge and handling wear and faint edge toning, the lot is in Very Good condition.
From the Disney Legend Inductee Andreas Deja Collection.
