Description
Ain't it Ducky Daffy Duck Animation Drawing (Warner Brother, 1945). Daffy starred in 130 shorts in the Golden Age, making him the third-most frequent character in the Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies cartoons, behind Bugs Bunny's 167 appearances and Porky Pig's 162 appearances. Virtually every Warner Brothers cartoon director put his own spin on the Daffy Duck character -- he may be a lunatic vigilante in one short but a greedy glory hound in another. Both Bob Clampett (1913 - 1984) and Chuck Jones (1912 - 2002) made extensive use of these two very different variants of Daffy's character. In this lot we have a superb animation drawing of Daffy Duck from a Friz Freleng-directed short. In it, Daffy and a hunter who fairly resembles Elmer Fudd but is voiced by Victor Moore become preoccupied with the contents of a satchel carried by another little yellow duck. It's a typically wacky Daffy cartoon and this image can be seen around the 3:00 mark. On an interesting note, in this 1945 short Daffy utters for the first time the phase "Suffering' succotash!" This later became the trademark of Sylvester the Cat, who made his debut that same year. Daffy measures 6" tall, rendered in graphite with red pencil on 12 field, 2-peghole animation paper. The piece is floated in a frame of 14.5" x 12". Frame sold as-is. Normal handling and edge wear. Very Good condition.Auction Info
