    Description

A Star is Hatched Animation Drawings Sequence of 3 (Warner Brothers, 1938). "I too shall be a famous actress. I just know I will, really I do" says Emily the chicken in the style of Katharine Hepburn. This short was directed by Friz Freleng, written by Tedd Pierce, and animated by a young Robert McKimson. This was Friz Freleng's last Warner Brothers short, before he went to MGM to work on "The Captain and the Kids". The character is thought to be an early inspiration for McKimson's Miss Prissy character in his Foghorn Leghorn shorts. It's an original sequence of three 12 field 2-peghole animation drawings of the aspiring little chicken, as she grabs her suitcases and heads off to Hollywood to become a movie star. You can see this scene at the 2:39 mark. She stands approximately 6" tall, drawn in graphite, blue, yellow, red, and brown pencil highlights, and the pages are numbered individually 51, 66, and 72 in the bottom right corner. All show minor handling wear, and are in Very Good condition.
