101 Dalmatians Original Theatrical Poster Art by Paul Wenzel (Walt Disney, 1979). For the 1979 re-release of Walt Disney's classic canine tale, One Hundred and One Dalmatians designer and illustrator Paul Wenzel created new artwork, very different than the one he originally created back in 1961. This one features Cruella De Ville racing after "those puppies" in her neoclassic luxury Panther De Ville. In the 1961 film she famously runs cars off the road, making drift turns in the snow, smashing through a wooden barrier, and even ramming a truck off the road. Just like her Panther De Ville, Cruella is an imposing presence. The car seems to inexplicably survive all of this unscathed until Cruella jumps it through a grove of trees after being slammed by Jasper and Horace's van, and it begins to fall apart. This extraordinary original artwork depicts a large 17" x 13" image of Cruella and her car with Horace and Jasper in tow. Rendered in gouache on 24.5" x 18" illustration board by Paul Wenzel who created the theatrical one-sheet movie posters for the Motion Picture Advertising Department. During his tenure Paul created over 100 theatrical one-sheets and movie posters. In fact, he created nearly every Disney movie poster prior to 2000, so chances are pretty good that you've seen his work many times! The artwork has a protective cover cel and is noted as, "Caution: Original Art." One-of-a-kind, Ultra-RARE! In Very Good condition with light edge wear and corner wear.
