"What's Opera, Doc" Bugs Bunny Painting by Chuck Jones (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s). "Oh mighty warrior of great fighting stock. Might I inquire... eh, What's Up Doc?" Bugs Bunny asks Elmer Fudd/Siegfried, in the beginning of this classic animated theatrical cartoon. This short was written by Mike Maltese and directed by Chuck Jones, and released on 4/6/57. In Jerry Beck's essential 1994 book The 50 Greatest Cartoons, this was rated number one. In 1992, it was voted by the Library of Congress for preservation n the National Film Registry. It was the first cartoon theatrical short to receive this honor. Chuck Jones now has three shorts with this honor. This is a rare original Chuck Jones watercolor painting inspired by Bugs Bunny as Brunnhilde, when Bugs goes up the stairs to recline around the 4:40 mark into the short. This stunning watercolor and graphite piece has a great image size of 9". Artwork is signed by Chuck Jones (1912-2002) under the painting. Includes a COA. Framed with Plexiglas, and matted with an opening of 12" x 9"; overall frame size is 21.25" x 18.75". Fine condition.
