"Snow White's Last Call for Dinner" Painted Illustration (Walt Disney/New York Graphics Society, 1947). The New York Graphics Society is New York's oldest museum, with origins beginning in 1804. They had a license with the Walt Disney Company in 1946 to produce a series of four lithograph prints: two featuring Snow White and two of Bambi. They sold portfolios of the four prints in three different sizes. Each litho sold had a bottom border notice that read "Copyright New York Graphics Society, Fine Art Publishers. Published with the cooperation of Walt Disney Productions, Calf." These were each painted by Disney Studio artists. The artist of these paintings is unknown, but may have been Hank Porter, Samuel Armstrong, or even Campbell Grant. This is the original Disney Studio painting for the piece entitled "Snow White's Last Call for Dinner." It showcases the "Let me see your hands" wash-up-for-dinner sequence, with Grumpy being the lone holdout. A magnificent gouache painting, framed with Plexiglas and matted with an opening size of 23" x 19", in an overall frame size of 32" x 28". Large individual images of 5" to 9". It is important to note this is the published original painting of the New York Graphic Society lithograph sold in 1947, and not a reproduction or later recreation. This was one of the first major Fine Art license deals ever done at the Walt Disney Studio, and this is a very important piece. A vintage 13.5" x 11.5" New York Graphics Society litho print is included in the lot. Very Good condition.Auction Info
