"Pepé Le Pew" Painting by Dick Duerrstein (Warner Brothers, 2006). Pepé Le Pew made his first appearance in the Chuck Jones-directed cartoon Odor-able Kitty, in 1945. This is an outstanding original acrylic painting by Dick Duerrstein on canvas of Pepé Le Pew titled "Bonjour Mon Cheri" on the reverse by the artist. Mr. Duerrstein was the Creative Director for Walt Disney Consumer Products for two decades. He left to pursue a full time career as an artist in galleries globally. His signature style of painting is to start a canvas with a distinct blue line, much like an animator did. He paints over that line and lets the original blue line peak out from his masterful paintings. This painting is done in that style. This is an open-front framed canvas with a mat opening of 29" x 29", and overall framed size of 35.5" x 35.5". Pepé smelling the rose is 20". The artist has signed on the bottom right corner as well as on back of the canvas. A sweet painting of one of our favorite cartoon characters! Fine condition.
