Description
"Once Upon a Wintertime" Original Christmas Card Illustration Signed by Ralph Hulett - Acrylic on 13" x 11" Board (c. 1950s-60s). Here's a lovely piece of original artwork believed to have been inspired by the "Once Upon a Wintertime" segment of Disney's animated anthology film Melody Time (1948). Longtime Disney artist Ralph Hulett (1915 - 1974) was a background artist on Melody Time, and was inspired by that lovely winter story of two young lovers when he designed this image for a Christmas card. Hulett began designing holiday cards in 1949, and he created a lot of them for the Designers' Showcase Company. Hulett was also a member of the California Watercolor Society. He joined the Disney Studios while still in college; the first film he worked on was Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937). Hulett's craftsmanship extended beyond animation, encompassing various artistic forms including illustration and painting. He would stay with Disney through Robin Hood (1973) passing away the following year. "Once Upon a Wintertime" captures the essence of holiday romance and the gift of togetherness during a season of wonder. For collectors and those who cherish the magic of wintertime festivities, it becomes a cherished reminder of the moments that make the holidays special.
